Sennssasure
Smart Incontinence Care
Talli is a reusable sensor that sits on the outside of any commercially available incontinence product (adult diapers), which wirelessly alerts caregivers when wetness is detected.
Caregivers are able to monitor the status of each resident on a mobile device, allowing them to provide tailored and immediate care.
Device & Sleeve
The talli device (transmitter + sensor strip) is wrapped in a waterproof sleeve and fully protected from feces when attached to the brief. The sleeve is reusable (washable) for at least a month and can be discarded without too much cost implication. The sleeve is easy to apply on the folded brief and does not add effort for the caregiver.
Generous radii prevent resident from peeling the sleeve off the brief, large velcor area creates strong bonding and smooth transition around the device, minimal line cut gives enough opening for device insertion and protects device from getting soiled, sleeve is removed from the bottom with the help of a tab which helps and guides the caregiver.
Sleeve Approaches
talli ideation
Each care facility resident receives a talli device, several sleeves and a charger station.
Charger
Each resident at least owns two talli devices, one of them will be worn on the brief, the other one will be charged and ready to use at any time. The talli device will be charged inductively on the charger station, which can be space efficient wall mounted or standing on any surface.
Packaging
The talli device will be treated in packaging like a B2C product, as it will be received by a resident in a care facility and should provide a pleasant unboxing experience. The sleeves are a B2B consumable and the Sensassure hubs will be treated as B2B infrastructure.
Responsibilities and Contribution
This project was done at IDEO during my time as an intern there. It was done in the department “ID Drive-Through”, that was focusing on very short and fast paced projects for Start-Up’s. “ID Drive Through” is a way for Start-Up’s to get “affordable” design. This project took 3 weeks, and therefore is not an in-depth execution. Not only did we helped with Industrial Design, but also worked out their Branding.
I was responsible for ideating and concepting around the diaper sensor and the protective sleeves. We had to consider the function and the process, and therefore did a lot of quick mock-ups to test how the sensor could be applied in the easiest way.
Before & After
In the beginning of the collaboration the team of Sensassure had a working prototype. In the end of this 3 weeks collaboration they had a product and a brand.
